Job Advert

Senior Marketing and Communications Officer

This post is a 12 Month Fixed Term / Secondment position. As per the Fixed Term Contacts Policy - Where individuals with continuous service within the NHS apply for fixed-term contract roles, NSS reserves the right to refuse any such appointment.

About the Organisation:

In June 2025, the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care introduced two key frameworks: the Population Health Framework and the Service Renewal Framework (SRF). The SRF sets out an ambitious vision to drive innovation and enable more integrated delivery across Scotland’s health and care services. As part of this transformation, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) will come together to form a new organisation: Public Services Delivery Scotland in April 2026. The new organisation will play a pivotal role in supporting the renewal and long-term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland. To learn more about the new organisation, please read the public consultation paper –

The Post:

Our Senior Marketing and Communications Officer will shape and communicate messages about the work of NSS to internal audiences, external NHS Scotland practitioners and partners, and to wider stakeholders and citizens, across a range of platforms.

You will lead on the communications for two key programmes of work – Scan for Safety and Digital Prescribing and Dispensing Pathways (DPDP).

Scan for Safety is a commissioned programme delivered by NHS National Services Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government while the DPDP programme focuses on revolutionising the prescribing and dispensing process in Scotland.

The post holder will support the Programme Director and workstream leads by encompassing both reactive and proactive stakeholder engagement and management functions, dealing with the national and regional stakeholders, and support and manage programme engagement activities.

The Candidate:

We are seeking a Senior Marketing and Communications Officer with a ‘can do’ approach, to join our established marketing and communication function.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual who firmly believes in the power of good communications and engagement, bringing well-evidenced creative and strategic content development, media relations, internal engagement, and digital experience.

• Monitor and evaluate stakeholder engagement efforts, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
• Provide regular updates and reports on stakeholder engagement activities to programme leadership and other relevant stakeholders.

This post can be based at Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Delta House, Glasgow.

Currently hybrid working.
