Job Description
An Electrician is required to join a busy maintenance team within a high-security environment. Your role involves ensuring that planned and reactive maintenance work within the prison is carried out in a safe, compliant, and timely manner.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, Monday - Friday, with overtime paid for weekend work. Responsibilities include:
1. Planned and preventative electrical maintenance.
2. Diagnosing and replacing failed domestic electrical components.
3. Responding to breakdowns, ensuring all work is carried out under the appropriate Safe System of Work and in a timely manner.
4. Active fault-finding and problem-solving on domestic electrical systems across the prison.
5. Undertaking electrical installation activities in accordance with provided designs and IET Wiring Regulations.
6. Testing and inspecting electrical installations as per current IEE wiring regulations.
7. Monitoring and ordering critical spares for all electrical services.
8. Supporting local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner.
9. Ensuring Health & Safety standards are achieved across the contract.
Requirements include:
* Appropriate technical qualifications, e.g., City & Guilds 2365 parts 1-3, BTEC, NVQ Level 3 or above.
* Knowledge of BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically the 18th Edition.
* Experience in electrical maintenance, distribution, installation, and testing.
* Knowledge of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.
* Ability to work at heights.
* Ability to work independently and use initiative.
* Desirable skills include IT proficiency, testing and inspection (2391), experience with fire alarm and CCTV systems, and exposure to working environments up to phase 3 400 volts. Training will be provided as needed.
