This is a senior engineering role currently focused on our enterprise-wide data integration platforms; Cloud Pak for Integration (CP4I) - DataPower, API Connect, IBM ACE, IBM MQ. The Senior Engineer is responsible for helping both the platform lead and CBL divisions and their projects deliver on these key data integration platforms, maintaining platforms throughout their lifecycle, assistance to define best practice, standards and processes, as well as promoting platform usage. You will also work with external vendors and work closely across internal IT spanning all disciplines, from Architecture, Development, Testing through to Support, in order to ensure optimal delivery whilst continually ensuring high quality output is preserved. RESPONSIBILITIES: Platform: Working with teams from the business to help them deliver on the platforms Removing technical impediments, suggesting alternative strategies Assisting maintaining platform roadmaps: shared accountability for major version changes and associated upgrades to keep the platform current Maintaining the Platform's capacity and resiliency with ongoing changes Collaborating closely with Architecture functions to ensure optimal designs and approach adopted Providing oversight of any change and implementation on the platforms Providing oversight to estimates; challenging estimates to validate that they are neither overly-optimistic or pessimistic. Particularly when working with the external vendors Highlighting inconsistent development practices and working to drive consistency in approach Ensuring designs and other supporting documentation is kept up to date as the platforms evolve Solution Architecture and Design Support: Collaborating closely with the Architectural function to support production of solution architectures and designs to effectively meet the needs of the business function utilising subject matter expertise in the data integration platforms Ensuring that best practice is used where appropriate in Development and Design Phase Review and signoff on outcome of detailed design phase during the project (e.g. design, build, test, and implementation) Leverage knowledge to the Platforms to identify and create business improvement opportunity Ensure that solutions are strategically aligned with Enterprise Platform architecture and business requirements for the project, ensuring fit for purpose Provide well-informed advice on the utilisation of the data integration platforms to enhance the effectiveness of significant activities pertaining to a solution design, build, test and deploy Provides specialist guidance information to support functions and quality assurance functions to assist in improving procedures Responsible for staying up to date with the Platform Roadmaps and translating them into impacts and maintenance upgrade schedules WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF HAVE/ARE: Direct experience with Data Power, IBM API Connect, IBM Integration Bus, IBM MQ, Kafka, Red Hat OpenShift Experience in technology architecture and design, with a deep knowledge of middleware/integration. Experience of translating business requirements into technical high-level designs, and the ability to produce detailed technical specifications and documentation. Hands-on experience in designing cloud solutions in one of the following - AWS, GCP or Azure Practical understanding of Enterprise/Solution Architecture (TOGAF). Understanding and knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). Understanding and knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies (such as waterfall, spiral, agile software development and DevOps) Solid experience (5 years) in a regulated corporate environment IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE/ARE: Graduate Degree in a relevant computing discipline, or equivalent experience TOGAF 9 Certified ITIL We are an inclusive organisation and committed to ensuring our recruitment process is as accessible as possible to everyone.
