Overview
Millom community hospital is seeking a flexible dedicated health care assistant to join our team working on the 9 bedded in-patient unit on a 22.5 hr permanent contract which includes internal rotation of shifts.
Shift times are 07:00-15:00, 15:00-20:00, 12:00-20:00 and 19:30-07:30. The shifts will include weekends.
Responsibilities
* Provide all care needs to patients with a variety of health conditions.
* Support and report to the qualified nurse in charge of the shift and carry out requests to achieve a high standard of care.
* Deliver a high standard of patient care including assistance with activities of daily living.
* Complete documentation in line with trust policies and using the trust IT systems.
* Attend training and use the trust TMS training system.
* Provide basic nursing care to in-patients with a variety of health conditions.
* Act accordingly in an emergency.
* Keep up to date with mandatory training.
* Ensure the ward is clean, tidy and well stocked.
* Use IT systems to maintain a high standard of documentation.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals – Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
