8a Senior Applied Psychologist (Older Adult Wards)

This role involves delivering highly specialist psychological care to clients with complex mental health or learning disabilities, including challenging behaviours. The postholder will demonstrate compassion towards clients, their carers, and families, and promote a positive image of individuals with mental health or learning disabilities, as well as the Trust itself.
Main duties include providing specialist psychological assessments, risk assessments, formulating treatment plans, delivering therapies, and offering guidance and supervision to other staff. The role also involves participating in service development, audits, research, and maintaining professional development.

The successful candidate will work within Older Adult inpatient services, specifically on Cedars ward (functional assessment) and Linden Ward (dementia assessment), with a team passionate about recovery and wellbeing.
Job responsibilities
Main Duties/Responsibilities
* Conduct specialist psychological assessments for clients with complex conditions, including neuropsychological testing.
* Recognize and report signs of harm, abuse, neglect, and safeguard children at risk.
* Perform risk assessments and advise on risk management.
* Develop and negotiate psychological treatment plans with clients and carers.
* Implement and evaluate psychological therapies, adjusting as needed.
* Provide psychological advice, guidance, and supervision to multidisciplinary team (MDT) staff.
* Supervise Assistant Psychologists under the guidance of a Consultant Applied Psychologist.
* Engage in clinical audits, service evaluation, research, and professional development activities.
Person Specification
* Postgraduate doctoral training in applied Psychology accredited by BPS.
* HCPC registration as an Applied Psychologist.
* Experience working as a qualified applied psychologist within an older adult or related service.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development.
