Your new company
You will be working for a boutique growing Lloyd’s Broker specialising in Marine Insurance business, with offices around the world. They are fully service oriented, and they serve their customers with all their knowledge and passion. They can service any marine coverage, but most clients are Hull & Machinery/Increased Value/Freight Interest, P&I, War Risks, Kidnap & Ransom, Yachts. They place business produced from their other offices alongside working directly with clients and other producing players. They see a very wide variety of accounts and have vast experience in dealing with all types of tonnage, records, clients, and trading. Due to expansion in the Marine team, a position for a Senior Account Handler/Technician has arisen to join the office 4 days a week.
Your new role
As a Senior Account Handler/Technician, you will handle your own portfolio of accounts within a sub-team of 5, including Brokers and Account Handlers. Your responsibilities include creating open market MRCs, facility declaration off-slips, endorsements, and accurate client documentation. Duties involve submission of MRC slips to the Whitespace Platform, sending MRC slip agreements to Underwriters via email, managing renewals and adjustments, processing risks into the in-house broking system, generating debit/credit notes, and issuing closings to underwriters. Additionally, you will calculate and process premiums for Hull & War placements, submit premium LPANS to DXC technologies, handle queries, provide technical support, and work closely with the Accounts/Finance team. You will also network with overseas offices and lead weekly team meetings to discuss renewals.
What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience as an Account Handler or Technician in the London Insurance Market, particularly in Marine Hull & War, with multinational exposure, is essential. Skills include preparing MRC slips with attention to detail, premium processing, familiarity with placing platforms, ownership, teamwork, strong communication, and prioritization. Knowledge of Italian and Cert CII qualification are advantageous but not required.
