Chicane is a specialist Aston Martin car restoration, engineering and service company and is looking for an MD with a unique combination of automotive knowledge, leadership, business acumen, and customer relations expertise.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for the right candidate to lead an established and highly regarded independent classic Aston Martin Specialist.
The ideal candidate should have the following skills and experience:
1. Automotive Expertise in high-end Marques
* Industry contacts - must have connections and a comprehensive database of suppliers within the industry including parts.
* In-depth knowledge of premium classic marques.
* Understanding of restoration processes, including chassis, bodywork, all mechanical aspects, electrics and interiors etc.
* Experience of accurate estimating and invoicing, maintaining budgets and deadlines.
* Awareness of automotive regulations such as health and safety standards.
1. Leadership and Team Management
* Proven leadership experience, ideally in a specialist automotive or restoration business.
* Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams, including technicians, restoration experts, administrative staff, and customer-facing roles.
* Ability to manage, recruit, induct and retain staff.
1. Strategic and Operational Management
* Experienced in managing day-to-day operations in a workshop/service environment.
* Ability to develop and execute strategic plans, including growth and brand positioning.
* Oversight of budgets, procurement, workflow planning, and workshop scheduling.
* Implementing and maintaining quality control systems.
1. Business Development & Client Relations
* Excellent customer service and relationship management skills with individuals and collectors including HNW (high-net-worth) customers.
* Ability to grow the business through effective networking, targeted marketing, and strategic partnerships.
* Represent the business at events, shows, and enthusiast circles.
5. Financial Oversight
* Experienced in managing P&L, cash flow, and financial forecasting.
* Cost control in parts procurement, staffing, and operations.
* Understanding of insurance and valuations for high-end vehicles.
6. Brand and Reputation Management
* To maintain and enhance Chicane’s reputation as an elite-level engineering collective.
* Ensure all work reflects the craftsmanship, attention to detail, and exclusivity expected in the Aston Martin community.
7. Qualifications and Experience
* At least ten years’ experience of working in the high-end classic automotive sector.
* A background in automotive engineering, business management, or a related field is required.
* Previous MD, GM, or senior leadership experience in a luxury car or restoration setting.
* Active skills in sales, marketing, and digital support systems.
* Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to write emails, documents and marketing material to a range of audiences.
* Proficient in IT skills; word, excel and power point including any experience with databases.
* Any formal qualifications desirable.
