Examinations Officer
Role: Examinations Officer Job Type: Permanent Setting: Secondary School Location: Welwyn Garden City Hours: Full Time Salary: £27,000-30,562
We are currently working with a Secondary School in Welwyn Garden City, and they are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Examinations Officer to lead on the planning, administration, and delivery of all internal and external examinations. This is a pivotal role, ensuring that all examination processes are compliant with awarding body regulations and run smoothly for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the administration of all public and internal examinations (e.g. GCSEs, A Levels, BTECs, mocks)
* Act as the main point of contact with examination awarding bodies
* Ensure compliance with JCQ regulations and awarding body requirements at all times
* Coordinate exam timetables, including entries, withdrawals, and amendments
* Organise secure storage, distribution, and return of examination materials
* Recruit, train, and deploy invigilators
* Coordinate access arrangements and reasonable adjustments in collaboration with SEND staff
* Maintain accurate records, exam files, and student data
* Support students and staff before, during, and after examination periods
* Manage results days, including results distribution, post-results services, and appeals
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Previous experience as an Examinations Officer or within a school/education setting (Required)
* A strong understanding of JCQ and awarding body regulations (or willingness to learn)
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills
* High levels of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality
* The ability to work calmly under pressure and manage competing deadlines
* Confident IT skills, particularly MS Office and school MIS systems
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and students
