Summary:
The Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing project delivery, ensuring site works are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. The role involves managing subcontractors, liaising with the supply chain, and supporting the Project Manager to achieve successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Review and analyze contract documents, project plans, and specifications, providing necessary feedback.
* Coordinate with departments, Project Engineers/Managers, and stakeholders to meet project milestones and deadlines.
* Assist in scheduling and conducting project review meetings, focusing on contract terms, scope, cost, and timelines.
* Report on project status, including issues and solutions, to the Project Manager.
* Communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders to ensure project progress and resolve issues.
Project Management Support:
* Ensure compliance with company procedures, safety, quality, and environmental standards throughout the project.
* Monitor contract variations and report changes to scope, cost, and delivery.
* Prepare progress reports and updates for client meetings, maintaining documentation.
* Manage project budgets, monitor costs, and forecast delivery.
* Support warranty management and mitigate warranty claims.
* Supervise subcontractors and supply chain teams for safety, quality, and contractual compliance.
* Assist in developing and implementing the Construction Phase Plan.
* Oversee site mobilization and ensure site inductions for visitors and personnel.
* Review and ensure adherence to RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements) on-site.
* Manage logistics and site operations to ensure safe and timely delivery of materials.
* Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and safety rules for all site personnel.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Proven experience in engineering or project management, especially in construction or infrastructure projects.
* Familiarity with NEC contract conditions.
* CSR Gold Card and First Aid at Work certification.
Skills & Abilities:
* Strong communication skills for interacting with technical, commercial, and client stakeholders.
* Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Project, and ERP systems.
* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
* Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and compliance.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
* Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes is advantageous.
* Ability to work effectively in a small, multidisciplinary team.
* CAD experience is advantageous but not essential.
Travel & Flexibility:
* Travel within Northern Ireland for project site visits.
* Occasional overnight stays with prior planning.
* This role involves both office and site work, with accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
