We have a fantastic opportunity to join Greggs supply site in Derby as a Transport Manager and really help to shape an exciting and dynamic transport team.

About the role
17. This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered
18. We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role
19. The base location for this role is DerbyIdeally, you’ll live within one hour travel of this area
What you'll do
20. Lead a team of drivers and supervisors to deliver against the logistics strategy.
21. Drive a culture of excellence, openness and continuous improvement
22. Responsible for Transport Planning and Problem Solving
23. Ensure fleet is serviced and maintained and ensure the operation is fully compliant with legislation and company policy where applicable
24. Recruit, train, and coach members of the transport team to improve performance and manage underperformance where necessary
25. Creating and implementing rota patterns for 24-7 cover whilst maintaining service and budgetary control
26. Developing and maintaining set Key Performance Indicators and ensuring these are fully utilised to drive improvement
27. Ensuring that Health and Safety and Food Hygiene regulations and standards are adhered to
28. To encourage a Food Safety Culture within the Team
29. Ensuring that Team training is carried out within company policy and legal compliance
30. Leading the team with high visibility through regular meetings and coaching, promoting a culture of achievement and responsibility in line with the values,
31. To be responsible and accountable for achieving targets, continuous improvements and projects
32. Carrying out PDR’s with direct reports, agreeing targets and objectives, conducting monthly 1 to 1’s and agreeing individual development plans to forge strong communication links within the department.
33. Ensure professional, industry and business-related knowledge and skills are kept up to date
About you
You will fit right into this role if you:
34. Hold a National CPC or International CPC (- Training may be given)
35. Have up to date knowledge of WTD and all relevant transport legislation
36. Take ownership and effectively challenge unacceptable standards of behaviours
37. Lead by example
38. Are a strong team player, able to build good working relationships at all levels and lead by example.
39. Can demonstrate a proven ability to provide excellence in customer service
40. Have experience of, and the ability to multi-task and work with multiple priorities calmly and at pace
41. Are results focused with strong planning, prioritising and organisation skills
42. Have advanced IT skills including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams
43. Are self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and using own initiative
44. Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience of analysing information and issues to identify current and potential problems and develop and implement workable solutions
45. Are supportive of an inclusive culture – recognising and valuing that difference is good
