Paediatric Junior Sister – Band 6
Join the Paediatric Emergency Department at St Helier/Epsom General Hospital as a Band 6 nurse. This role supports our skill mix increase and establishment enhancement, with opportunities to work across Trust sites as needed. We offer Paediatric Crisis SIM courses, APLS training, Paediatric A+E courses and professional development. Our Paediatric ED Practice Development Nurse provides support.
Main duties of the job
* Be professionally accountable for standards of professional practice as set by the NMC Code of Professional Standards and behaviour and relevant guidelines.
* Undertake the nurse in charge role for the department.
* Supervise, support and educate other team members, including nursing and medical students.
* Ensure safe and effective clinical practice and enhance patient experience.
* Promote the Trust’s policies and deliver organisational objectives.
* Promote the Trust’s visions, values and divisional objectives.

Person specification
* Essential criteria
o Registered Nurse – Child (RSCN/RNC) with current NMC registration
o Experience within an acute or emergency Paediatric setting
o Experience of shift coordination, management of patient care, staffing and resources
* Desirable criteria
o Module in relevant specialist area (e.g., children’s emergency nursing) and degree or working towards in a relevant subject
o Experience of Paediatric emergency nursing at Band 5 level
Core skills
* Mentorship, teaching and assessing
Desirable skills
* Advanced nursing skills in triage and assessment, plastering, IV/ Capital Nurse, central line management
