Youll play a key role in technical proposal development and client engagement for complex combustion systems.
What Youll Be Doing
Developing technical proposals for flare and combustion systems
* Prepare detailed technical and commercial proposals for flare systems, thermal oxidisers, burners, and other fired equipment
* Review client enquiries and specifications to determine project scope, design parameters, and feasibility
* Evaluate process data and recommend appropriate system configurations and combustion technologies
* Ensure proposed solutions meet both customer requirements and relevant environmental standards
Cost estimation and bid preparation
* Generate accurate cost estimates using internal data, supplier quotes, and engineering input
* Work closely with procurement, fabrication, and engineering departments to define project costs, timelines, and deliverables
* Produce full proposal packages including technical descriptions, data sheets, and commercial terms
* Identify risks in scope or delivery and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies
Customer interaction and technical support
* Engage with clients throughout the bid process, providing clear responses to technical and commercial queries
* Attend meetings (remote or in person) to present proposals, clarify specifications, and negotiate terms
* Build strong working relationships with customer stakeholders including engineers, project managers, and procurement teams
* Conduct occasional site visits to support application reviews and pre-bid assessments
Internal coordination and project handover
* Collaborate with design and engineering teams to ensure proposals are technically sound and manufacturable
* Coordinate inputs from controls, electrical, and mechanical disciplines to support complete solution development
* Handover awarded projects to internal execution teams with all necessary documentation, design information, and client expectations
* Maintain proposal records for traceability, lessons learned, and continuous improvement
Commercial awareness and continuous improvement
* Monitor industry trends, competitor offerings, and client feedback to refine future proposals
* Update and improve proposal templates, costing tools, and internal documentation
* Participate in internal bid reviews and feedback sessions to drive quality and consistency
What Were Looking For
* Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or related engineering discipline (or equivalent hands-on experience)
* At least 25 years of experience in flare systems, fired equipment, or combustion-related proposals
* Demonstrable experience preparing technical proposals and managing the bid process
* Understanding of combustion system design and environmental compliance requirements
* Strong costing, pricing, and negotiation skills
* Confident communicator with the ability to lead technical discussions with clients and internal teams
Desirable Skills
