About Us
Since 2016, incubated by Save the Children UK, Wallsend Children’s Community (WCC) has been working to help children, young people, and families in Wallsend reach their potential. We focus on reshaping services, policies, and mindsets to benefit the community. Transitioning from our partnership with Save the Children UK to an independent charity, we aim to build a sustainable future for our work.
What We Are Looking For
We seek energetic, enthusiastic individuals to broaden our board's diversity and bring new skills, particularly in finance, marketing, fundraising, governance, community development, or experience working with children and families. Personal qualities include a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, strategic thinking, effective communication, and a strong alignment with our values and principles of public life.
Role Responsibilities
As a Trustee, you will provide leadership, oversight, and support to ensure the success and sustainability of WCC. Your role will involve strategic decision-making, governance, and advocating for our mission, especially during this critical period of transition to independence.
Desired Skills and Experience
* Experience in fundraising, marketing, communications, public affairs, governance, finance, or community development
* Experience working with children, young people, or families, especially in Wallsend or surrounding areas
* Compassion, determination, empathy, and a belief in community-led child-rearing
