Fire Safety Manager
The role of Fire Safety Manager drives the strategic implementation of fire safety measures, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and alignment with the MAG fire Safety Framework Standards while fostering a proactive safety culture.
It aims to minimise fire‑related risks, protect all airport users, and support operational resilience through expert guidance and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
* Facilitate the management of fire safety and risk by providing timely professional advice and training to line managers and third parties on statutory responsibilities, fire safety policy & procedures, and best practice.
* Provide proactive leadership and expert advice on fire safety to airport senior managers, interpreting fire safety related law to ensure legal compliance, specifically the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
* Support the Head of Health Safety and Fire Safety in their interaction with MAG Group in implementing fire safety measures at divisional level.
* Maintain, deliver, and continuously improve a dynamic, risk‑based fire safety management system across the airport.
Qualifications
* Degree or diploma (minimum Level 4) in Fire Safety Management or related qualification, or equivalent; working toward qualification is acceptable.
* Membership of a professional body such as IFSM, IFE, or equivalent upon commencement.
* Extensive experience as a Fire Safety Professional or managing fire safety in a large, busy operational environment; transport/large places of assembly experience desirable.
* Extensive knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, BS 9999, Building Regulations 2010, and applicable Approved Documents.
* Practical knowledge of British Standards for fire safety and experience as a fire risk assessor with knowledge of PAS 79.
* Strong analytical skills to determine effective risk‑based solutions.
* Ability to formulate and deliver training in fire safety subjects.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills for interaction at all levels of the business.
