Role Overview The Production Manager is a newly created role designed to sit between Senior Production Coordinator and Production Executive. It is intended for an experienced, high-performing individual with experience of planning and supporting key contracts at NEP UK who is ready to expand into a broader leadership and commercial-facing remit. This is a succession pathway role that will work closely with, and be directly trained by, our long-standing and experienced team that currently deliver these contacts for some of our major clients. During the training period the successful candidate will be working closely with Alison Durrant & John Turnbull, this will be the foundation of the training, but not the end point and does not mean the role is mastered at that point. Becoming a fully confident Production Executive takes time and continued exposure, and your development will grow steadily through ongoing learning, hands-on experience, and support from the wider team well beyond the initial handover The successful candidate will gradually assume a wider scope of responsibilities across operational delivery, commercial support, crewing oversight and contract execution, stakeholder management, and process governance. With successful development and performance, this role is expected to transition into a future Production Executive. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working on projects at scale, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is motivated by the opportunity to grow into a senior leadership position with structured support. Key Responsibilities Resource Planning & Forward Workforce Management This role acts as the central link between coordination, engineering, commercial, and clients regarding crewing and resource planning. You Will Maintain visibility across resource planning for key contracts such as football and horse racing. Identify crew shortages, pinch points, and future resourcing risks, and escalate early with evidence-based insight. Lead proactive conversations with Heads of Audio, Vision, and UMs/TPMs to review upcoming requirements and shape solutions. Support the development of crewing strategies that consider availability, skill sets, and contract commitments. Ensure crewing decisions remain consistent with client expectations and contractually agreed service levels. Help monitor trends and labour requirements to support long-term workforce forecasting and operational planning. Commercial Support, Contract Insight & RFP Contribution You will gradually expand your commercial understanding and begin contributing to NEP UK’s commercial processes. Responsibilities Include Building strong operational insight into major NEP contracts, including crew levels, technical resourcing requirements, rig-day & TX-day specifications, and cost frameworks. Supporting the Commercial and UM/TPM teams with RFP responses, contract renewals, and new business opportunities by providing: resourcing models operational capacity assessments crew specification insights planning and logistical considerations Working with Procurement to ensure that freelancer and supplier rates, contract terms, and service agreements meet operational and commercial needs. Reviewing contract drafts with Procurement and Commercial before legal submission, ensuring operational accuracy. Cascading contract updates across internal teams, ensuring Production Coordinators, TPMs, Engineering, Procurement, and Finance understand changes and impacts. Supporting cost tracking, reconciliations, PO management, and invoice processing using Proactis. Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management You will serve as a key point of contact across multiple departments: Act as a trusted interface between Production Coordination, UMs/TPMs, engineering, commercial, and client teams. Build strong relationships with HoDs to support accurate forecasting, job planning, and operational decision-making. Support client-facing communication where appropriate as part of your development into a senior management role. Promote NEP’s values in all interactions, ensuring a professional and solutions-focused approach. Templates, Tools & Operational Governance As part of building future Production Executive capability, you will: Lead the continuous development of pricing templates, scheduling tools, cost models, rate cards, and workflow documentation. Ensure systems (ScheduALL, Proactis, planning tools) are accurate, maintained, and aligned with finance, commercial, and operational needs. Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for increased efficiency, reduced cost, improved accuracy, and enhanced communication. Advanced Production Management & Operational Delivery Act as a key liaison between clients, internal departments and suppliers. Work closely with Finance to ensure cost templates, budgeting tools, and financial inputs are accurate and aligned with operational delivery. Help co-ordinate or oversee the football and racing truck schedules, either as the lead owner or in partnership with the wider operational team. Support the development and refinement of operational and commercial templates, ensuring they evolve in line with: crew rate updates rig-day & TX-day definitions changes to equipment specifications changes to football schedules and racing calendars client contractual requirements What We’re Looking For Extensive experience supporting and delivering major contracts within NEP or a similar broadcast/live events environment. Strong knowledge of OB logistics, resource planning, and multi-standard engineering workflows. Demonstrated experience in budget management and cost control, with the ability to interpret financial information, understand cost drivers, and support commercial decision-making. An understanding of contract management, including reviewing operational T&Cs, identifying implications for delivery, and liaising with Procurement and Legal teams to ensure contractual accuracy. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to: manage client expectations professionally and confidently influence and collaborate effectively with peers and senior colleagues across NEP “manage up” by providing timely, concise updates, risks, and recommendations A proactive mindset with the drive to grow into a senior leadership and commercial-facing role. Demonstrable organisational capability and comfort managing concurrent complex workflows. A solution-oriented approach, with sound judgement and the ability to anticipate issues before they escalate. Familiarity with ScheduALL, Proactis, and Microsoft Office. Ability to build trusted working relationships and engage constructively across technical, commercial, and operational teams. Desirable Experience mentoring or guiding junior team members. Knowledge of OB operations and technical crew structures. Exposure to commercial, contractual, or negotiation-related activities.
