Longshaw is a single-form entry primary school in Chingford, catering for children from Nursery to Year 6 (3 – 11-year-olds). We also run a popular morning Parent Toddler group once a week run by our well qualified and experienced early years staff.Longshaw is a single storey, post-war purpose-built school located in spacious grounds. We have two playgrounds and well-resourced separate outdoor play areas for both our Nursery and Reception children to enjoy.At Longshaw we value our community and its diverse cultures and take pride in our children and their determination to succeed. Longshaw Primary Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and reflective Class Teacher to join our school team. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about high‑quality teaching and learning, has high expectations of all pupils, and is keen to contribute positively to the wider life of the school.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering engaging, inclusive, and aspirational teaching that enables all pupils to achieve their full potential, while contributing to a strong and supportive school community.
Key responsibilities
The Class Teacher will:
* Deliver high‑quality teaching and take responsibility for the progress and attainment of all pupils in their class
* Plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners through effective differentiation
* Use assessment effectively to inform planning, teaching and next steps for learning
* Create a positive, well‑managed learning environment where pupils are motivated and enthusiastic
* Implement school policies relating to behaviour, safeguarding and inclusion
* Use ICT effectively to enhance learning and support classroom practice
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and senior leaders
* Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress and wellbeing
* Contribute to curriculum development, enrichment activities, and whole‑school initiatives
* Engage fully in professional development, performance management and coaching
* Support the school’s ethos, values and commitment to continuous improvement
Teachers will also be expected to take responsibility for a subject or curriculum area as directed by the Senior Leadership Team and contribute to the wider school and cluster as required.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
* Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a good honours degree
* Has successful teaching experience (or teaching practice for ECTs)
* Is able to provide a stimulating, inclusive and well‑structured classroom environment
* Demonstrates strong behaviour management and positive relationships with pupils
* Uses assessment and data effectively to support pupil progress
* Works well both independently and as part of a team
* Communicates confidently with pupils, parents and colleagues
* Is committed to equality, safeguarding and the education of every child
* Brings energy, enthusiasm, professionalism and a genuine desire to make a difference
