Overview
We are looking for a dynamic, proactive, experienced clinician to join our friendly team in Bronglais General Hospital, Aberystwyth. The A&E Department provides emergency services to: Ceredigion, Parts of South Gwynedd, North-West Powys and Pembrokeshire. It also provides services to a large student and tourist population therefore there are seasonal surges in activity.
Currently there are approximately 25,000 attendances per annum, and it is anticipated that this will grow further in the future. All patient activity is seen, triaged, initial treatment and stabilisation commences in the A&E area. After assessment, patients are either transferred to the CDU for ongoing monitoring and assessment or admitted to an inpatient acute bed, transfer or discharged. All minors are managed in the A&E department. Patients are managed according to clear pathways of care based around the separate streams of minor and major treatment needs. This is a busy acute hospital. The successful candidate will work in close conjunction with other consultant physicians in the hospital and the community.
We are looking for a colleague who will be committed to providing a high level of clinical care and who, as a senior member of the Health Board, will have the leadership skills needed to work in close co-operation with and in support of clinical, medical and managerial colleagues to ensure high quality, sustainable healthcare to all patients in Mid Wales. A key responsibility for the post will be the display of effective leadership in setting direction for resident doctors.
The role will involve clinical investigation, diagnosis and treatment of patients as well as supervising and managing patient flow. The duties also involve updating and maintaining medical records as appropriate.

* Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
