Responsibilities
* Lead and grow a portfolio of academic journals, creating strategic plans that drive quality, growth, and profitability.
* Build and maintain strategic partnerships with academic societies, journal editors, and academic communities.
* Represent Taylor & Francis at conferences and editorial board meetings.
* Demonstrate market expertise by monitoring industry trends and competitor activity.
* Create innovative development strategies with significant autonomy, overseeing P&Ls with minimal supervision.
* Mentor less experienced colleagues and support executive leadership.
* Champion continuous improvement of policies and processes.
* Attract key opinion leaders as journal editors and take a leading role at industry events.
* Develop and analyze market opportunities to drive portfolio growth.
* Build and maintain strong relationships within academic communities and with external stakeholders.
* Communicate and present confidently at conferences and editorial board meetings.
* Analyze challenges and make sound decisions that deliver customer and commercial value.
Qualifications
* Experience in scholarly publishing with knowledge of best practices, publication ethics, funder mandates, and industry trends.
* Commercial acumen with the ability to analyze market opportunities and develop strategic plans.
* Strong relationship‑building skills to develop networks within academic communities.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Analytical thinking and sound decision‑making abilities.
* Proven track record of successfully managing high‑performing academic journals with minimal supervision.
* Advanced P&L management experience and ability to work autonomously while supporting executive leadership.
Working Conditions
The successful candidate will work in a model that balances remote and on‑site work. At least three days per week must be spent at the UK office (Milton Park, Oxfordshire) with the expectation that the office will relocate to Oxford city centre in late 2027/early 2028.
