Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in commercial driving and delivery services, with a focus on safety and efficiency. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently while ensuring timely deliveries.
Driving makes up approx. 60% of the role, the remaining time, you will be required as a general hand within the workshop team. Primarily using power tools to assemble components added to metal stillages. Training will be provided for this.
Duties
* Operate various types of vehicles, including flatbed lorries, to transport goods safely and efficiently.
* Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
* Navigate routes effectively to meet delivery schedules while maintaining a high level of customer service.
* Load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
* Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents that may occur during transit.
* Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and management regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise.
* Perform basic mechanical checks on the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
Experience
* Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role is highly desirable.
* Valid commercial driving licence with appropriate endorsements for the vehicle type operated.
* Experience operating flatbed lorries is an advantage.
* Familiarity with warehouse operations and logistics processes is beneficial.
* Strong mechanical knowledge to perform basic maintenance checks on vehicles is preferred.
