Find out more about the benefits of working for the University of Birmingham Role Summary What you'll do: Deliver engaging webinars: Guide students through the graduate recruitment process using pre-written materials, engaging both small and large audiences through Zoom. Offer personalised support: Triage and provide essential CV advice during Careers drop-in sessions. Collaborate with advisors: Assist in delivering a selection of college-specific workshops alongside our Employability Advisers both online and in person. Flexible work schedule: Contribute an average of 3 hours per week during term time, with a maximum of 5 hours per week. Training will be provided during the week commencing 29 th September. Main Duties Training for the role: To attend training sessions on CV writing, application form writing and presentation skills. To attend training on the support and resources offered by Careers Network To work with the Employability Advisors to keep up to date with current recruitment practices relevant to the workshops being delivered. To work with the Employability Advisers to develop an understanding of key employability skills (e.g time-management, resilience, team working, communication) To observe relevant workshops delivered by Employability Advisers Webinar delivery To have an understanding of the general area of student employability. To understand and be confident with the topic of the presentations being delivered. To have an understanding of the services offered by Careers Network so that signposting can be carried out where applicable To facilitate and deliver the pre-written presentation to students within the allocated time slot Other responsibilities To work on other related projects, on an ad hoc basis throughout the year. These may include: Assist in delivering a selection of college-specific workshops alongside our Employability Advisers. Reviewing existing materials and presentations, and making enhancements and recommendations, supported by an Employability Adviser. To act as an informal ambassador for Careers Network, encouraging participation via word of mouth. Person Specification A current student at the University of Birmingham (any degree discipline) through the academic year 24/25 Experience of (and demonstrable confidence in) delivering presentations or training sessions to small and large groups, including diverse audiences. Excellent oral communication and presentation skills with the ability to adapt style to different groups. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Evidence of enthusiasm and ability to engage other students. Excellent digital literacy skills – for example experience of using PowerPoint and Zoom. Excellent time management and organisational skills. Evidence of use of initiative within an educational or professional environment. Demonstrable confidence in speaking to students on a one-to-one basis. Experience of creative thinking and of implementing creative ideas A demonstrable interest in and understanding of issues around careers and employability, and/or personal and professional development.
