Our client BAE Systems, a prominent player in the Defence & Security sector, is on the lookout for a Principal Engineer specialising in Mechanical Engineering for Secondary Propulsion systems to join their team. This is a contract position located either in Barrow or Filton, with hybrid working arrangements requiring on-site presence for 2 days a fortnight. The role spans a duration of 6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leading the design, analysis, and verification of mechanical systems for secondary propulsion in submarines.
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project deliverables meet the required specifications and standards.
* Managing project timelines, ensuring milestones are achieved within set deadlines.
* Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the team.
* Conducting risk assessments and proposing mitigation strategies to ensure system reliability and safety.
* Interfacing with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide progress updates.
* Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and security protocols, especially SC, UK eyes only.
Job Requirements:
* Proven expertise in the Defence & Security sector, particularly in submarine systems.
* Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and their application to secondary propulsion systems.
* Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead and deliver complex projects on time.
* Strong communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical details to varied audiences.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
