Job Summary
Anord Mardix, a Flex company, is a global group that manufactures switchgear and related products for installation in mission-critical and commercial buildings, ranging from data centres to the headquarters of major corporations worldwide. To support our teams in building excellent products and contributing to our growth, we are seeking to hire a Environmental Specialist, based in Kendal OR Blackburn.
Reporting to the EHS Manager, the Environmental Specialist will be part of a dedicated SHEQ team responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental standards across our UK sites. The role involves implementing initiatives to reduce our environmental impact while maintaining regulatory compliance.
What a typical day looks like:
1. Ensuring compliance with ISO 14001 and assisting in the implementation of ISO 50001 energy management systems.
2. Conducting audits against ISO standards and internal management systems.
3. Collaborating with industry sustainability bodies to achieve and improve our accreditations.
4. Training production teams on environmental controls and best practices.
5. Monitoring energy consumption, waste reduction, water, and effluent use.
6. Leading awareness campaigns, such as for World Earth Day.
7. Encouraging colleagues to participate in environmental volunteering activities.
8. Working with clients to help them meet their environmental goals.
9. Contributing to the Flex 2030 sustainability objectives for the environment and community.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
1. Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
2. Relevant experience in an environmental role within manufacturing, construction, or engineering sectors.
3. Extensive knowledge of ISO 14001 and 50001 management systems.
4. Proactive with the ability to work independently.
5. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
6. Proven ability to liaise effectively at all organizational levels and develop relationships.
7. UK driving license and willingness to travel between sites.
