THE ROLE We are seeking a Schools ICT Engineer to join our onsite Managed Services team supporting a large Secondary School in the St Helens area. This is a hands‑on role providing high‑availability ICT services to a diverse range of users including staff, students, and school visitors. You will play a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of day‑to‑day school ICT services, responding to incidents, deploying devices, maintaining equipment, and supporting key school events. Excellent communication skills, a customer‑focused attitude, and the ability to work effectively within a team are essential. This role is based on the school campus and requires daily onsite attendance.The typical shift pattern is 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday, but this may change based on business needs, including early mornings and evenings. Key Responsibilities Provide face‑to‑face and remote support to students, staff, and visitors. Log, manage, and resolve ICT incidents within defined SLAs and KPIs. Deliver exceptional customer service at all times. Build, configure, and deploy end‑user devices for staff and students. Install and update applications on user devices. Support printers, projectors, and other school equipment. Complete administrative tasks including asset management and documentation. Support school events such as open evenings, parents’ evenings, and other scheduled activities. Work collaboratively with other ICT engineers to maintain a reliable, high‑availability environment. ABOUT YOU The ideal candidate will be driven, customer‑focused, and enthusiastic about delivering high‑quality ICT support within an educational environment. The Ideal Candidate Skills & Knowledge Knowledge of Microsoft products and operating systems (Windows 10/11; Windows Server environments). Understanding of mixed Apple and Microsoft environments. Hardware and software support experience (PCs, laptops, printers, projectors). Networking fundamentals. Familiarity with SharePoint‑driven information‑sharing solutions. Understanding of MFD printers in a networked environment. Ability to build and test devices across different operating systems. Some knowledge of Apple devices and their use in a managed network environment. Personal Attributes Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities. Self‑motivated with good time management and planning skills. Strong interest in IT and delivering high‑quality services. Experience Experience working in an IT support or customer service environment. Experience within education ICT support is desirable but not essential. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Mathematics. Full, clean driving licence. Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check (required).
