This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and
ambitious individual to fulfil this strategic leadership role
within Dumfries and Galloway Council. Reporting to the
Executive Director Economy and Infrastructure, you will
have responsibility for the leadership of the Transport
and Infrastructure service including Roads Services,
Assets and Strategy, Transport and Fleet, Major Projects
& Capital Programming, Property and Estates, Building
Maintenance, Transportation and Flood Management
and Harbours. You will play an integral role in building
and enabling a culture of collaboration, empowerment,
and support to our workforce to enable them to flourish,
deliver a high standard of customer service and continue
to make a difference to the lives of our citizens.
As a member of the Council’s Senior Leadership Team,
you will work collaboratively with other Chief Officers
and Elected Members to deliver the Council’s vision
and ambition for our region. You will lead corporate
programmes of change, support collaborative working
within a one-Council approach, and work to support
the financial sustainability of the Council and address
future challenges.
We want to hear from exceptionally talented individuals,
who can demonstrate adaptive leadership skills and
a forward-thinking approach to service improvement.
You will be educated to degree standard and have
a track record of success at a senior level within a
complex organisation.
You will be a first-class communicator and a natural
relationship manager, with an appreciation and
understanding of working within a political environment.
A strategic whole-system approach and vision to deliver
change, collaborative partnership working, financial
planning, and people leadership skills together with a
strong customer focus is essential.
