An opportunity for a Marine Electrical Engineer is available with my client who are a well established and highly respected Marine Services provider. Their ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role or Ship’s electrician or EOOW (Engineer Officer of the Watch). Marine Electrical Engineer role: Should you be succesful having accepted the position of Marine Electrical Engineer, you will report to the Fleet Technical superintendent and be responsible for: • Management of Marine Electrical Resources to carry out all electrical engineering functions within the Business. • Provide support to the Vessel Superintendents, Technical Manager and Marine Manager in the Management of the Company’s Vessels. • Provide support for the fleet of vessels. • Assists to ensure Marine / Safety / Engineering Department databases are in date and maintained. • Assists with preparation of docking specification, reports as well as maintenance. • Supervision of electrical work and testing during surveys, dockings, overhauls and other repairs and timely communication with operational management on emergent issues affecting scope and cost of repair tasks. • Liaise with Port authorities, Consultants, Shipyards, Contractors and Suppliers as required. • Daily review and update HELM / Dynamics status of assigned vessels, for the relevant electrical tasks and defects. • Coordinating with contractors and obtaining quotations for work deemed necessary on assigned vessels, following the appropriate approval processes for sign-off. • Ensure that electrical problems raised on-board the fleet are promptly investigated and rectified in a safe and consistent manner. • Verifying the vessels are compliant with relevant electrical legislation and requirements. • With the ship’s engineer, partly responsible for the maintenance and updating of tasks on the ships HELM/Dynamics maintenance systems. • Conduct periodic inspection, testing of safety devises and megger testing of all marine assets. Marine Electrical Engineer requirements: • Proven experience in capacity of Ship’s electrician or (Engineer Officer of the Watch) or corresponding position. • Experience in shipbuilding/ship repair industry. • Thorough understanding of Diesel engines & propulsion systems control and monitoring systems. • Competent IT skills with a good understanding of Excel. • Thorough knowledge and experience of Risk Assessments, safe working practices, permit to work systems and lock-out, tag-out processes, and willing to develop and assist with the implementation of those systems, if needed.
