An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 9 month, fixed term part‑time (22.5 hours per week) Band 7 Specialist Midwife within the BCUHB Perinatal Mental Health Service. The team is a specialist regional service that works with individuals with upper moderate to severe mental illness in the perinatal period from pre‑conception up until one year post‑natal. The service has been through a significant period of expansion over recent years and is working towards accreditation in line with the Perinatal Quality Standards for Community Perinatal Mental Health Services.
We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, experienced midwife with a demonstrated passion for Perinatal Mental Health; you will need to demonstrate a high level of autonomy within this role. You will work collaboratively with members of the wider Perinatal MDT, with acute in‑patient and community mental health services, maternity and obstetric colleagues and a variety of other agencies and third‑sector organisations to ensure women and their families receive specialist care and support throughout pregnancy and into the postnatal period.
Main Duties
The Specialist Midwife for Perinatal Mental Health will also be required to provide support and guidance to staff across BCUHB, including the delivery of training and supporting the trauma‑informed care agenda.
Person Specification
Qualifications / Experience
* Relevant experience from previous roles.
* Registered Midwife / Current NMC Registration.
* Specialist knowledge and experience in maternal/paternal and infant mental health, developed through training and practice.
Desirable Criteria
* Understanding and knowledge of current issues in midwifery and NHS relating to perinatal mental health.

* Communicate clearly and accurately.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to build and maintain effective collaborative working relationships.
