Position
Clinical Coding Clerk – Medical Records Department, Ayrshire Central Hospital, Irvine.
Hours and Shift Pattern
28.8 hours per week: Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 8:00 am – 3:36 pm and Thursday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
What You Will Do
* Extract clinical data from patients’ case records and clinical summaries.
* Encode, compile, and validate Scottish Morbidity Records for submission to the Information and Statistics Division.
* Compile daily bed utilisation statistics for health‑care planning.
Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required
* European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL).
* Certificate of Technical Competence from the Institute of Health Record and Information Management (IHRIM) or equivalent relevant qualifications and/or proven experience.
* Excellent numeracy skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
* Knowledge of Health Records Department procedures and their contribution to health‑care delivery.
* Knowledge of the Patient Administration System functions, particularly the admission process and related functions.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively and efficiently, both independently and as part of a team.
* Strict adherence to confidentiality and compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
* Ability to work unsupervised, use own initiative, organise and prioritise workload, and adapt to change and last‑minute demands.
Other Essentials
Full UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership is desirable as the post holder may be required to travel across various sites/bases within Ayrshire & Arran.
