Job Summary:
The Paint Finisher is responsible for preparing, refinishing, and polishing automotive surfaces to the highest standards. This includes surface preparation, paint application, and final finishing of vehicles following repairs or custom modifications. The role requires keen attention to detail, in-depth knowledge of automotive paints and materials, and proficiency with modern spray equipment and refinishing techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Surface Preparation:
* Sand, mask, and clean vehicle panels to prepare them for painting
* .Repair surface imperfections including scratches, dents, and rust.
Paint Application:
* Mix and apply primers, basecoats, and clearcoats according to manufacturer specifications.
* Operate spray guns and booths in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
* Match paint colours using computerized mixing systems or manual techniques.
* Finishing Work:
* Buff and polish painted surfaces to achieve a flawless finish.
* Inspect completed work for quality and rectify any defects (e.g., orange peel, runs, or dust nibs).
* Apply protective coatings when required (ceramic, wax, etc.).
* Ensure finished products meet customer and industry standards.
* Maintain documentation of completed work and paint usage.
* Equipment Maintenance:
* Clean and maintain spray guns, booths, and associated equipment.
* Ensure proper storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
Required Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience as an automotive paint finisher or refinisher (minimum 23 years preferred).
* Strong knowledge of automotive paint systems (water-based and solvent-based).
* Excellent eye for color matching and finish quality.
* Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to painting and chemical use.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
