The Lower Thames Crossing is one of the UK's biggest infrastructure projects. On the Roads North section, we're delivering everything from micro‑tunnelling to major bridges and large‑scale road realignments – all of which depend on well‑planned, well‑managed temporary works. We're looking for a Senior Temporary Works Coordinator who knows how to bring structure, clarity and leadership to complex environments.
You will be right at the centre of how the job gets built, working with engineers, designers and site teams to make sure temporary works are safe, practical and properly thought through.
Responsibilities
* Lead and support a team of Temporary Works Coordinators.
* Ensure procedures are clear, followed and actually work on site.
* Act as the go‑to person for technical advice on temporary works.
* Work closely with designers and delivery teams to ensure buildability.
* Plan and track temporary works designs, briefs and approvals.
* Review more complex (Category 3) designs with confidence.
* Keep an eye on performance, standards and opportunities to improve.
* Carry out audits and help raise the bar across the project.
You need to be technically solid, but just as importantly, able to work with people – influencing decisions, simplifying complexity and keeping things moving.
Qualifications
* A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
* 5–10 years’ experience in temporary works.
* Experience stepping into a senior or lead coordination role.
* A strong understanding of BS 5975, CDM and industry best practice.
* The confidence to challenge where needed and back it up technically.
* SMSTS and a valid CSCS card.
Preferred Qualifications
* CITB Temporary Works Coordinator qualification.
* Experience on major infrastructure (highways, tunnelling etc.).
* Experience with audits, assurance or managing competency.
