Role Overview
Manage a varied personal client tax portfolio, handling routine compliance and advisory work, under the guidance of an Assistant Manager. The role follows a hybrid working pattern, with three days in the St Albans office and occasional days in the City office.
Key Responsibilities
* Handle day-to-day requirements for a Private Client portfolio, including clients with diverse income sources.
* Serve as the primary contact for clients.
* Engage with partnerships and high net worth individuals.
* Collaborate with colleagues across different teams on client matters.
* Address capital gains tax issues.
* Assist with technical advisory work and compliance assignments.
* Attend client meetings.
* Propose fees, raise bills, and review WIP regularly.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
Technical Skills
* ATT qualified or studying for CTA, with prior tax portfolio management experience preferred.
* Experience with Self-Assessment and tax computations.
* Knowledge of private client advisory work, EIS, VCT, SEIS reliefs, and UK tax residence/domicile rules.
* Proactive use of tax legislation and guidance to resolve technical issues.
Client Experience
* Private clients, owner-managed businesses, high net worth individuals, property owners, and non-UK residents/domiciled clients.
Additional Competencies
* Proactive in seeking opportunities and feedback.
* Understanding of chargeable hours, fees, and WIP management.
* Ability to approach clients with ideas and opportunities.
* Responsible for delivering high-standard client assignments.
* Excellent communication skills, confident engagement, teamwork, and operational improvement suggestions.
