We are seeking a couple of dedicated individuals to join one of our special needs school based in Harrogate. These are long term roles starting in September lasting at least 2 terms.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be working closely with students aged 11-24 who have a range of Special Educational Needs. These may include autism,ADHD,Communication and language difficulties, sensory impairment and moderate to severe learning and physical difficulties. Your role will be to provide tailored support, helping each student to access the curriculum, develop social and life skills, and reach their full potential.
Responsibilities:
Work 1:1 and in small groups to support students with their learning and personal development
Adapt learning activities and meet individual needs
Build positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and confidence
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure the best possible outcomes
Promote independence while offering guidance and reassuranceRequirements:
Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or working with individuals with SEND is highly desirable
A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach
Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to different learning styles
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
A DBS on the Update Service or willing to apply for one
