Nursing Assistant – Pre Admissions Unit & Urology Clinic
We are looking for a compassionate and caring Nursing Assistant with a genuine passion for supporting patients throughout their healthcare journey at West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
This role is based within the Pre-Admissions Unit and Urology Clinic, where you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. The successful candidate will be dedicated, enthusiastic, and able to work effectively within a fast-paced clinical environment.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting patients during their pre-operative pathway
* Assisting with clinic-based activities within the Urology service
* Delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care under the supervision of registered staff
* Maintaining patient dignity, privacy, and comfort at all times
* Working collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team
Training & Development
Following comprehensive on-the-job training and assessment, you will develop the skills to undertake a range of clinical duties relevant to the role.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* Holds National Care Certificate or is willing to undertake and complete within 12 weeks
* National Care Certificate holder
* Functional skills level 1 Maths and English or GCSE equivalent
* Previous experience as a Health Care Support Worker
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience working in a healthcare, social care organisation/setting or service industry requiring people contact.
* Ability to work with staff from a diverse range of backgrounds
* Experience of working within a health care environment
* Demonstrated knowledge of procedures and practices at a base level of theoretical knowledge
* Ability to demonstrate escalation of concerns through previous experience
* Ability to work in a multi-agency team
* Ability to work alone or in a small team
Skills and Abilities
* Good communication skills (written and verbal)
* Effective use of electronic solutions to support the delivery of patient care
* Able to work as a team
* Able to carry out well defined routine tasks
* Able to work on own initiative, following direction/supervision by a Registered Healthcare Practitioner
* Able to relate well with patients/relatives/visitors, colleagues, the multidisciplinary team and wider Trust staff
