Summary

Working with the Community, Participation & Volunteering Manager, you’ll support daily operations and the organisation of volunteering across the South Somerset property group.

You'll be confident learning how to use different IT systems and delivering work on time. You’ll have good communication skills and enjoy supporting people with admin tasks.

Hours: Part-time, 18.75 (2.5 days a week)

Duration: Permanent

Salary: £12,918.75 pro rata (FTE £25,837.50 per annum). The advertised salary for this role will be in effect from 1st April

What it's like to work here

Working within a wonderful, bustling atmosphere the role of Community, Participation & Volunteering Assistant, is 'a desk job', but you'll get to work in some of the most beautiful settings at a very exciting time for our places, with great people. You will support with operations and the organisation of volunteering across Barrington Court, Lytes Cary Manor, Montacute House and Tintinhull Garden. Our places are in fairly remote areas, so you'll need your own transport to get to them. You’ll be working across the property group supporting colleagues across all our teams.

We are a busy property group with over 288,000 visitors across our properties each year. Our teams are committed and passionate about delivering excellence every day and ensuring our visitors have a memorable visit. With over 300 volunteers across all teams, we work together as one, supporting each other to achieve a great level of success.

What you'll be doing

You will work across departments to help deliver the Community, Participation & Volunteering plan and respond to agreed priorities, providing administrative, communications and event support.

You’ll be working in collaboration with colleagues across all our discipline areas, such as programming, curation, gardens, estates and visitor experience. Helping to provide volunteers, volunteer managers, partners and communities with a quality and consistent experience. Supporting the teams to develop an inclusive culture and embedding the ‘Welcome Everyone’ Value.

You’ll support our work in developing new ways of working together and deepening relationships with existing and new audiences. You’ll also support our teams in offering a warm welcome and working with all kinds of people.

You'll spend time at each of the properties, supporting the Volunteering & Community Manager with the organisation of volunteers with some administration tasks.

Who we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you have:
1. Good organisational skills and attention to detail
2. Good interpersonal and communication skills
3. The ability to multi-task and work in collaboration with other departments
4. The ability to work well in a team
5. Good IT skills (Microsoft Office)
6. Willingness to work alongside volunteers and able to support volunteers to perform at their best
