About The Role
The Portsmouth Academy is seeking to appoint a Phonics and Literacy Teacher to join our team from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an inspiring teacher with a passion for literacy intervention and student progress to make a significant impact across all year groups.
Fixed Term until 31/08/2027.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging phonics and literacy lessons and interventions across KS3 and KS4.
* Support students in developing confidence, fluency and enjoyment in reading and writing.
* Work collaboratively with pastoral, SEND and EAL teams to provide effective targeted support.
* Promote high standards of literacy, communication and oracy across the school.
* Monitor student progress and use assessment to inform teaching and intervention strategies.
About You
* A qualified teacher with QTS.
* Has experience supporting students with literacy barriers or additional needs.
* Committed to inclusive education and high expectations for all learners.
* A strong communicator who can build positive relationships with young people, colleagues and families.
