Specialty Training Programme Director – Paediatrics (ST1‑3, Peninsula)
The role works with and supports the Head of School for Paediatrics in leading the delivery of functions aligned to the NHS England mandate and long‑term workforce plan. The appointment is a part‑time secondment to NHS England, alongside existing employment with an NHS Trust in the South West geographical footprint, until 31 March 2027.
Main duties
The appointed Director will focus on improving learner supervision, assessment and experience, engaging faculty and ensuring effective educational outcomes now and in the future.
Qualifications and Training
* Primary clinical healthcare qualification
* Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development (e.g. educator courses, Train the Trainer)
* Consultant currently working in the South West
Experience and Knowledge
* Considerable experience working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context
* Demonstrable track record of delivery in service and education
Skills and Abilities
* Demonstrable leadership skills and an ability to influence and motivate others
* Ability to quickly establish personal and professional credibility with colleagues and other key stakeholders
Contract and Duration
Secondment for 11 months.
Working pattern
Expectations of at least 40% of time working in person at an NHSE office in the South West Region.
