An opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller to join a diversified group in North Warwickshire. This commercially focused role is suited to someone who can deliver accurate financial reporting while supporting operational performance across manufacturing and property. You will lead the month-end process, produce management accounts, and oversee cost accounting. Working closely with operational teams, you will identify cost-saving opportunities, improve controls, and provide clear financial insight to support decision-making. The role also includes ownership of budgeting, forecasting, and capital expenditure analysis, alongside financial oversight of the property portfolio, supporting tenant contracts, lease compliance, and commercial negotiations.
Responsibilities of the Financial Controller
Efficiently close monthly ledgers and prepare detailed management accounts including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and working capital analyses.
Maintain and develop comprehensive cost accounting systems for all business activities, ensuring accuracy and relevance to support ongoing operations.
Analyse production costs, material usage, labour expenditure, overheads, sales trends, margins, direct and indirect costs to identify patterns and recommend actionable improvements.
Prepare and review standard costs and variances; investigate significant differences to provide clear explanations for senior management.
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to uncover cost-saving opportunities and drive efficiency improvements throughout the production process.
Ensure property tenants comply with contracted lease terms by actively managing contracts and participating in negotiations for new agreements or end-of-lease settlements.
Coordinate the annual budgeting process for the manufacturing division while producing rolling forecasts and scenario analyses to inform operational decision-making.
Assist in preparing capital expenditure proposals by evaluating their financial viability and long-term benefits for the business.
Prepare monthly management accounts for manufacturing operations with comprehensive analysis and commentary tailored for board-level reporting.
Monitor stock movements, obsolescence, valuation, and implement robust controls over inventory through cycle counts and periodic audits.
