WMS Specialist
Cambridgeshire
This is a rare opportunity to step into a large-scale, international WMS transformation and be properly upskilled into a specialist role, not thrown in at the deep end.
We’re supporting a major EMEA warehouse management rollout, with a May 2026 go-live across the UK, followed by further European deployments. To support this, the business is intentionally splitting capability – and one of the roles is a a permanent junior-to-mid level hire to own configuration, support, and continuity long-term
You’ll work alongside (and be mentored by) an experienced Manhattan consultant, gradually taking ownership of configuration, support, testing, and process improvements as the system moves from implementation into business-as-usual.
What You’ll Be Doing
This role is about learning, owning, and then optimising a live WMS environment.
Over time, you will:
* Support and maintain a live Warehouse Management System (Manhattan Active)
* Configure workflows to support inbound, outbound, picking, storage, and dispatch operations
* Assist with system testing (UAT, regression testing, change validation)
* Troubleshoot system issues and support operational teams
* Document and maintain SOPs, workflows, and system playbooks
* Support training and onboarding of warehouse users
* Act as a bridge between IT, operations, and external partners
Initially, you’ll shadow and learn. Long-term, you’ll become the go-to configuration specialist.
What We’re Looking For
This role is intentionally open to junior or mid-level profiles.
You do not need Manhattan Active experience if you have:
* Hands-on experience supporting or configuring any WMS
* Exposure to warehouse operations and system-driven processes
* A genuine interest in how systems enable operational performance
* The ability to document processes clearly and work methodically
You will succeed in this role if you are:
* Curious and coachable
* Comfortable working between IT and operations
* Happy starting with support/configuration and growing into design ownership
* Looking for a long-term specialist career path, not a short-term project
Experience That Helps (But Isn’t All Mandatory)
* WMS configuration or support experience
* Exposure to ERP/WMS integrations (SAP exposure helpful, not essential)
* SOP or process documentation experience
* Data analysis or reporting exposure
* Warehouse or distribution centre environments
* Multi-site or international operations exposure
Why This Role Is Different
* You’re not competing with a consultant, you’re being developed alongside one
* The workload is realistic and sustainable long-term
* There is a clear progression path into a senior WMS / systems specialist role
* The project has visibility, budget, and leadership backing
* You won’t be overqualified during quiet periods or overwhelmed during peak ones
Package
* £40,000 – £60,000 depending on experience and responsibility
* Structured mentoring and skills development
* Long-term ownership of a live, international WMS environment
* Hybrid working
