Assessor - Work Based (Painting & Decorating) 37,896 - 41,770 (pro-rata) 0.2 FTE / 7 Hours Based at Falkirk Campus Fixed Term to February 2027 About the Role Forth Valley College is seeking a Painting & Decorating Work-Based Assessor to join our Apprenticeship, Skills and Commercial (ASC) team on a part-time basis.to support apprentices undertaking vocational qualifications within the Construction sector. This part-time role is ideal for an industry professional who wishes to combine assessment activity with ongoing trade engagement, ensuring occupational competence remains current and relevant. Reporting to the Assessment Manager for Construction, you will carry out assessment and internal, verification and quality activities in line with Forth Valley College and SQA standards, ensuring apprentices are supported to achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities * Conduct fair, safe and consistent workplace assessments for Painting & Decorating apprentices * Support candidates in gathering and presenting valid, sufficient and authentic evidence * Ensure assessment practice aligns with SQA standards and internal quality processes * Maintain effective working relationships with employers and training partners * Contribute to the wider Construction assessment team on a part-time basis Essential Requirements * Current and verifiable industry experience in Painting & Decorating * Understanding of vocational assessment principles and workplace learning * Strong organisational, communication and IT skills * Ability to work autonomously and manage limited hours effectively * Full driving licence and access to a vehicle Desirable * A1, L&D9, TAQA or equivalent assessor qualification * Experience assessing apprentices or vocational learners * Familiarity with SQA documentation and evidence requirements Staff Benefits * Public sector pension (pro-rata) * 48 days annual leave (pro-rata) * Flexible working arrangements * CPD and professional updating opportunities * College equipment provided * Access to College gym facilities Forth Valley College offers a supportive induction process and a collaborative working environment where staff are valued and developed.
