Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Bid Writer to support the growth of our Translation and Interpretation Services division. This role is ideally suited to a candidate with proven bid writing experience and a strong understanding of health and social care, local authority, and/or NHS procurement and commissioning frameworks.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the coordination, development, and submission of pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs), framework applications, and competitive tenders. The role demands excellent written communication skills, a structured project management approach, and the ability to work effectively to tight, non-negotiable deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Review, interpret, and fully understand client pre-qualification, framework, and tender documentation
Analyse quality questions to identify key evaluation criteria and “winning themes”
Develop structured response plans and templates to support subject matter experts
Interview internal stakeholders to capture accurate and compelling content for submissions
Undertake targeted research on clients, projects, and service requirements to tailor responses
Draft, write, and edit high-quality PQQ, framework, and tender responses using persuasive, professional language
Edit and refine contributions from colleagues to ensure clarity, consistency, accuracy, and compliance
Ensure all responses fully address the questions and identify and resolve any content gaps
Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders involved in bid submissions
Manage multiple submissions simultaneously while maintaining a consistently high standard of work
Produce supporting documentation including presentations, organisational charts, CVs, and appendices
Design and compile bid folders and supporting materials where required
Use online tendering and e-procurement portals confidently and accurately
Support the Bid Manager with the maintenance and development of bid libraries, project records, and standard response content
Assist in the completion and upkeep of standard information sections within proposals
Respond to internal and external requests for information in a timely and accurate manner
Adhere to business continuity processes as directed by line management
Undertake any additional activities required to support the bid and wider business development team
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:
Proven bid writing experience and/or formal bid writing training
Strong academic or professional background in English, English Literature, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline
Demonstrable experience producing high-quality PQQ, tender, and framework submissions
Excellent written English, with strong attention to structure, tone, grammar, and detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure
Strong organisational, planning, and time management skills
Excellent IT skills
Desirable:
Experience working within a translation or language services organisation
Framework submission experience
Familiarity with bid writing and graphic design software (e.g. InDesign)
Full UK driving licence
