Are you an Occupational Therapist, with an interest in developing your skills in the area of Stroke assessment and rehabilitation?

The Stroke team in York are looking for a full time static Band 5 Occupational Therapist for up to a 9 month period.

The role involves working as part of the multi-disciplinary team based in York. This enthusiastic team are committed to helping patients to achieve the best possible rehabilitation outcomes following a Stroke.

The role will allow the successful candidate to develop a broad range of skills, in both assessment and treatment of Stroke within acute and rehabilitation settings.

There are opportunities to work alongside experienced clinicians, and the whole team are committed to on-going staff training and development. The team delivers services over a flexible pattern of working, and have a variety of service improvement projects in progress. The successful candidate will have opportunities to develop their leadership skills and lead on their own service improvement projects.

Main duties of the job

You will have the opportunity to develop clinical skills and knowledge, operational awareness, service improvement and leadership skills. We have an established programme of clinical and managerial supervision, and we will expect the successful candidate to be proactive in their approach to development of themselves, and supportive in the development of others.

We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest in developing their skills in this diverse and challenging specialty, and you should have post graduate experience in Stroke, and an awareness of complex discharge planning and patient centred rehabilitation.

Training and advice are available from Specialist Occupational Therapists and Advanced Clinical Specialists who work across all sites.

Education/Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria

9. Diploma/degree in Occupational Therapy
10. HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist

Desirable criteria

11. Evidence of postgraduate training within occupational therapy or specialist area
12. Membership of professional body
13. Evidence of relevant CPD activities

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria

14. Experience in a wide range of occupational therapy student placements.
15. Experience of working in a multidisciplinary health care team
16. Good working knowledge of Occupational Therapy process and experience in delivering Occupational therapy including assessment, clinical reasoning, intervention, evaluation, and models of practice
17. Evidence of knowledge relevant to role

Desirable criteria

18. NHS experience through placement and/or employment work
19. Evidence of clinical and knowledge skills within relevant area
20. Experience of working in a client driven/NHS environment
21. Good working knowledge of outcome measures to evaluate clinical treatment
22. Experience of acute care work, complex discharge planning
