Role Overview We are seeking to appoint a Maths Teacher to join a secondary school in Taunton on a full-time, permanent basis from September. The successful candidate will teach Maths across KS3 and KS4, delivering well-structured lessons that develop students' fluency, reasoning, problem-solving, and confidence with mathematical concepts. This role would suit a qualified teacher looking for a permanent position, an ECT seeking strong support at the beginning of their career, or an experienced practitioner who enjoys raising attainment, building confidence, and contributing positively to school life. Core Responsibilities Plan and deliver high-quality Maths lessons in line with the national curriculum * Teach across KS3 and KS4, adapting explanations, tasks, and support to meet a range of abilities and learning needs * Develop students' numerical fluency, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving through clear modelling and purposeful practice * Assess learning effectively, provide timely feedback, and contribute to reporting and intervention where required * Support GCSE preparation, including exam technique, revision strategies, and targeted catch-up where appropriate * Create a positive classroom environment with high expectations for behaviour, effort, and presentation * Work collaboratively with the Maths department to share resources, ideas, and strategies that improve pupil outcomes * Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote an inclusive classroom culture where all students can succeed Required Skills & Behaviours Strong subject knowledge in Maths, with the ability to teach confidently across a secondary age range * Effective classroom management with a calm, consistent, and professional approach * Ability to explain mathematical ideas clearly and support students with a range of attainment levels * Secure understanding of assessment, feedback, and strategies to close learning gaps * Organised and reliable approach to planning, preparation, and marking * Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a commitment to contributing positively to the wider school community Qualifications & Experience Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification * Experience teaching Maths in a secondary school setting, ideally across KS3 and KS4 * Strong understanding of current safeguarding responsibilities and statutory guidance * Confidence supporting students preparing for GCSE Maths is desirable * Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
