Responsible Individual

Are you a visionary leader ready to shape the future of children's social care?

We are a new and ambitious organisation with a clear purpose: to transform the lives of young people through safe, nurturing and child-centred care. As our Responsible Individual, you will be central to this mission, providing strategic leadership, accountability and the highest standards of practice to ensure children not only feel safe, but are able to thrive.

This is more than a compliance role. It is a chance to set the standard, drive innovation and make a lasting difference for children and young people in residential care.

About the Role

As Responsible Individual, you will hold overall accountability for the leadership, governance and compliance of our children's home. You will initially oversee two Registered Managers and between two and three homes, ensuring each service delivers safe, high-quality and child-centred care.

The scope of this role will grow as the organisation develops and further homes open, offering clear progression towards a full-time, strategic leadership position with wider oversight and responsibility.

You will act as the key link between the senior leadership team, the Registered Manager and external stakeholders including Ofsted and local authorities.

You will ensure the home not only meets but exceeds the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards, embedding a culture of safeguarding, trauma-informed practice and continuous improvement.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of a new venture where your expertise, values and vision will directly shape the culture and success of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide clear strategic leadership and oversight across our children's home, ensuring our vision and values are lived out in practice.
* Safeguard children by ensuring the highest standards of child protection are embedded in all aspects of care.
* Monitor, support and challenge the Registered Manager to ensure compliance with legislation, regulation and organisational policy.
* Lead on quality assurance through audits, visits and direct engagement with children, staff and families.
* Drive a culture of excellence and continuous improvement so that the home consistently meets or exceeds Ofsted expectations.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with Ofsted, commissioners, local authorities and safeguarding partners, strengthening the organisation's credibility and reputation.
* Provide professional supervision, guidance and reflective leadership to managers, promoting accountability and staff development.
* Act as a visible role model, demonstrating resilience, professionalism and child-centred leadership.
* Oversee resources, staffing and financial sustainability to ensure the home is safe, effective and well-led.
* Report regularly to the Directors on performance, safeguarding and compliance, ensuring transparent governance and accountability.

Why Join Us?

This is not just another senior role, it's a unique opportunity to be part of something from the very beginning. You will play a pivotal role in shaping a new, values-driven organisation that is uncompromising in its commitment to children's safety, wellbeing, and future success.

By joining us, you will:

* Shape the future – influence the culture and direction of a new service built on compassion, innovation and excellence.
* See your impact – know that your leadership directly changes the lives of children and young people.
* Work with purpose – join a leadership team motivated by values, not just compliance.
* Develop and grow – access ongoing professional development, with the chance to progress as the organisation expands.
* Be respected and supported – work within a culture that values integrity, reflective practice and professional autonomy.
* Be rewarded fairly – receive a competitive salary and benefits package that recognises your responsibility and expertise.
* This is your chance to step into a role where your leadership truly matters, for children, for staff and for the future of residential care.

Essential Requirements

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

* At least
one year's experience as a Responsible Individual
within a children's home or equivalent senior governance role in children's social care.
* A recognised Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care and Children & Young People's Services (or equivalent).
* Strong knowledge of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards and current safeguarding legislation.
* A proven ability to oversee governance, compliance and quality assurance systems.
* A strong track record of safeguarding leadership, with the ability to identify, escalate and manage risk effectively.
* Demonstrable experience of supporting and challenging Registered Managers or senior staff to drive improvement.
* Evidence of strong decision-making and governance at senior level, with the ability to balance compliance, quality, and organisational growth.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with Ofsted, local authorities, commissioners and safeguarding partners.
* Inspirational leadership qualities, resilient, reflective and able to motivate and develop staff at all levels.
* A genuine passion for improving the lives of children and young people.
