Peripatetic Singing Teacher
Closing date: Monday 8 June 2026
Start Date: September 2026
Archway School in Stroud is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced peripatetic singing teacher to work with our secondary students.
We are looking to introduce singing lessons over a 10-week block in the new academic year from September 2026. The successful candidate will ideally be available for several hours on one day per week.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with young people in a secondary school setting and be confident teaching across a range of contemporary styles, including pop, rock and musical theatre. This is an exciting opportunity to help develop and inspire our growing music provision and shape the musical culture at our school.
Please note that our peripatetic teachers work privately, so payments will be dealt directly with the parent/carer funding the lessons. Timetabling is organised through the music department.
If you have any questions regarding the role then please get in contact with the Head of Music, Joshua Hargreaves.
To apply please complete the application form which is available to download from the school website under the “vacancies” tab. Please click on the Peripatetic Singing Teacher vacancy, which will take applicants to eTeach, then click “apply now”. The completed application form must be submitted via email in either Word or PDF format. Please do not send in CVs as these will not be considered.
All applications will be acknowledged by email. If you do not receive an acknowledgement or have any other issues or questions, please contact Niamh Cooney via phone or email.
Prior to the interview date referees will be contacted to request references on all shortlisted candidates, where you have given us your consent to do so. We are unable to provide feedback to applicants who are not shortlisted for interview.
We reserve the right to close the vacancy earlier than the advertised date if considered appropriate.
Archway school is an equal opportunities employer, and we welcome applications from people with protected characteristics such as age, gender reassignment, being married or in a civil partnership, being pregnant or on maternity leave, disability, race including colour, nationality or ethnicity, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
As part of our due diligence for safer recruitment, the school may carry out online searches for shortlisted candidates to help identify any incidents or issues which may need to be explored at interview. The searches would be made on open-source information and may include, but will not be limited to, the main social networking sites, including Instagram and Facebook.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and therefore expects all staff and volunteers to share this same commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and this position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974.
