Post Title: Senior Project Manager (Building Surveyor)
Team: Facilities Management Team
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Facilities Management Team at Bury Council. The FM Team covers all aspects of the building lifecycle, undertaking projects from planned maintenance, statutory compliance, and energy management to refurbishment and extensions across housing, schools, public estate buildings, and offices. Our capability builds on over five decades of experience with extensive regulatory and legislative knowledge, ensuring that projects and facilities management are delivered safely, within schedule, and to our clients' specifications and service expectations.
Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive building surveying/inspection services and design, procure, and supervise small/medium (£1.5m or less) building works schemes for internal clients and schools.
* Plan, program, organize, financially monitor, and manage a series of independent refurbishment and new build projects, developing appropriate plans of work from initial estimates to final procurement.
* Ensure projects meet high standards, comply with Quantity Surveyor requirements, and align with client expectations.
* Ensure clients receive value for money while adhering to industry regulations.
* Obtain and evaluate information to ensure realistic project costs for works, goods, materials, and services.
* Liaise with contractors, suppliers, clients, consultants, and engineers to meet project requirements, including creating fire safety management strategies across all council buildings.
Candidate Requirements
* HNC/HND qualification in a relevant subject and/or demonstrable construction contract management experience.
* Professional qualification with an institution such as RICS, APM, ICE, or CIOB.
* Proven contract management experience in a building/contracting context.
* Experience in procurement, contractor and consultant management, delivering value.
* Strong project/program management skills and experience in client briefing and critical analysis.
* Financial management and budget control experience.
* Commercial awareness and experience handling contract disputes.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, including Health & Safety.
* Experience in project delivery, statutory legislation, and working with targets and KPIs.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, IT skills, and proficiency in AutoCAD.
* Flexible and organized approach to work with resilience and confidence in representing the Council.
Additional Information
Normal hours are 37 per week with flexible working options. The closing date for applications is Thursday, 22nd May 2025, with interviews commencing the week of 26th May 2025.
