Oncology Consultant - Colorectal and Breast
We are seeking a Consultant Clinical Oncologist with a specialist interest in Colorectal and Breast to join our dynamic and progressive team at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a well‑established oncology service supported by dedicated clinical nurse specialists, an active clinical trials portfolio and regional collaboration.
Key responsibilities
* Provide oncology inpatient and outpatient services, radiotherapy and systemic anti‑cancer therapy for all common tumour sites.
* Manage at least two clinical subsites.
* Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to service development.
* Work closely with the Colorectal team, Breast team and CNS teams.
* Contribute to the Acute Haematology Oncology Service and teaching/supervision of junior doctors.
* Engage in clinical research and trials.
* Participate in an approximate 1:12 on‑call rota (weekends and evenings).
* Work within a Monday‑Friday pattern.
Relocation: Flight and Visa only (if required).
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration with license to practice.
* Specialist Registration status with GMC.
* CCT in Clinical Oncology (or within 6 months of interview).
Experience
* Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience in Colorectal, Breast, Radiotherapy and systemic anti‑cancer therapy.
* Active participation in clinical research and trials.
* Experience with e‑prescribing systems.
* Involvement in teaching and training at undergraduate/postgraduate levels.
Additional criteria
* Commitment to clinical excellence and governance.
* Driving licence or ability to travel between sites.

£109,542 to £145,478 a year based on 10 PA’s per week.
