Counter Fraud Investigator

The Role
As a Counter Fraud Investigator, you'll take ownership of investigating suspect motor claims, ensuring fraud is detected and prevented at the earliest opportunity. You'll work closely with internal teams, external agencies, and specialist suppliers to deliver robust investigations that drive fair outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Screen incoming claims referrals against fraud indicators and risk factors, feeding back to the Claims team on referral quality.
* Manage fraud ring and linked claim investigations in line with internal protocols and IFB guidelines.
* Use tools such as CUE, MIAFTR, and open-source checks to support claimant profiling and investigation.
* Apply conversation management techniques to identify inconsistencies and assess risk.
* Liaise with regulatory bodies, law enforcement, other insurers, and investigative suppliers (e.g. engineers, forensic specialists).
* Validate documents and handle sensitive data responsibly.
* Assess the evolving evidence in each case to drive investigations to the right outcome.
* Maintain accurate reserves, file discipline, and effective diary management.
* Ensure compliance with FCA, DPA, and Treating Customers Fairly requirements.
What We're Looking For
* Solid experience in
bodily injury claims handling
.
* Proven track record investigating
suspect fraudulent RTA/bodily injury claims
.
* Knowledge of
credit hire claims
.
* Strong understanding of multiple fraud types within motor insurance.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.
* Proactive, detail-oriented, and confident in making sound investigative decisions.
