Your job is to help them stay engaged with learning, manage transitions, and develop social and emotional confidence. You’ll adapt tasks to their needs, encourage communication, and work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow personalised strategies and routines. This role gives you real insight into supporting neurodiverse children in a mainstream classroom. The Candidate You’re a graduate who’s calm, compassionate, and motivated to work in SEN. You don’t need to be an expert—but you do need patience, initiative, and a willingness to learn. If you’ve volunteered, tutored, or worked with children before, especially in SEN or mental health settings, that’s a definite bonus.
