Job Purpose
The Payroll Trainee supports the wider Payroll Bureau by delivering comprehensive payroll services to Fourth's customers. Working as part of a team, the role involves processing weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on time, being the first point of contact for payroll queries. This position offers a great career development opportunity for someone aspiring to become a Payroll Specialist or to move within other departments at Fourth.
The Role
1. Administer payrolls within a designated portfolio of customers, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, supporting Bureau targets with guidance from Payroll Trainers and the broader team.
2. Build and maintain strong customer relationships, providing excellent customer service in line with the Bureau’s service standards and SLAs.
3. Ensure timely receipt of all necessary data from customers and deliver outputs in accordance with set metrics and targets.
4. Perform payroll reconciliations to ensure all payrolls balance correctly.
5. Respond to customer inquiries via telephone or email and take appropriate actions.
6. Identify and escalate issues that may affect payroll processing.
7. Keep the customer payroll procedures manual up to date with current processes.
8. Communicate annual payroll schedules for holidays such as Easter, Christmas, and the start of the year.
9. Distribute quarterly surveys to customers.
The Ideal Candidate
1. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
2. At least 2 years of experience in an office environment.
3. Educated to GCSE level, including Mathematics and English.
