We’re working with a welcoming SEN school in Slough who are looking for a Sports Coach Mentor to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who wants to combine their passion for sport with the opportunity to support and mentor young people with additional needs, particularly those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The role: As a Sports Coach Mentor, you’ll play a key part in both the physical and emotional development of students. Your day will be varied – some of your time will be spent assisting with lessons, leading games and activities, or running small-group sessions. Just as importantly, you’ll be a positive mentor figure for pupils who may struggle with behaviour, confidence, or self-regulation. You’ll help students: Develop teamwork, resilience and problem-solving skills through sport Channel their energy in a positive way, using physical activity as an outlet Build trust and confidence by celebrating small wins and progress Learn strategies to manage emotions and behaviour, both in and out of class Engage more positively with their learning by feeling supported and understood You’ll work closely with teachers, teaching assistants and pastoral staff, ensuring every child is included, encouraged and supported. About you: Experience in sports coaching, youth work, behaviour mentoring, or a related role A natural ability to engage young people, particularly those who may present with challenging behaviour Calm, patient and resilient, with strong communication skills Understanding of SEMH needs (or a willingness to learn with training provided) Passionate about helping young people achieve their potential, both in sport and in life Why this role? A chance to make a real difference to young people who need strong role models Join a caring, supportive SEN school environment Ongoing training and guidance to develop your skills in SEMH support Long-term opportunities with potential for career progression in education or youth mentoring This role would suit someone with a sports background who enjoys inspiring others, but also has the empathy and resilience to support young people with additional needs. If you want a rewarding role where no two days are the same, we’d love to hear from you.
