Job Overview
Napier Turbochargers, a Wabtec Corporation business unit, is seeking a visionary Engineering Director to lead innovation, product development, and engineering excellence. You will oversee the full lifecycle of turbocharger systems—from design and testing to production and in‑service support—ensuring alignment with business strategy and customer needs.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a multidisciplinary engineering team covering Design, Analysis, Applications, and Test.
* Define and execute the engineering strategy for industrial turbocharger products.
* Oversee design, development, and validation of turbocharging systems for industrial applications (marine, power generation, heavy‑duty vehicles).
* Collaborate with Product Management, Sales, and Operations to align engineering output with market needs.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality systems (ISO, IACS, etc.).
* Drive continuous improvement, cost reduction, performance optimization, and technical innovation initiatives.
* Manage budgets, resource planning, and project timelines.
* Represent engineering in customer meetings, technical reviews, and industry forums.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
* Experience in turbocharger / high‑speed rotating equipment design, development, or manufacturing.
* Proven leadership experience in an engineering management or director‑level role.
* Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and rotating machinery.
* Familiarity with CAD/CAE tools (ANSYS, SolidWorks, GT‑Power).
* Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or similar methodologies.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and decision‑making skills.
Team & Collaborations
This role will work with a well‑established business that designs, manufactures, and tests industrial turbochargers supplied to power generation, marine, and rail traction industries. You will partner closely with colleagues across product, sales, operations, and customer support to deliver solutions that meet market expectations.
